Today I would like to reflect on a word that, depending on circumstances, can be a bit of a challenge. That word is forgiveness.
The text that I would like to use is in Matthew, 6:12. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
When I was growing up, I was taught that millions of people signed their own sentence every day by saying the Lord’s Prayer, particularly the verse that I just quoted. I was taught that God would only forgive me in the same measure that I was willing to forgive. This kind of thinking was like having a quid pro quo relationship with God. God’s love is unconditional. Like the story of the Prodigal Son, God’s Divine Omnipresence is always available to us.
So where, does forgiveness and the text in Scripture come in? Well, thoughts and feelings of anger and resentment and God’s love cannot occupy the same real estate in our hearts. Our Father requires that we clear our mind and hearts of negativity, bitterness, and any feelings that someone owes us something. Only when we empty ourselves of such things, the Holy Spirit can rush in and fill our lives with joy, health, prosperity and peace of mind.

In Matthew 18:22 Peter asked Jesus how many times he was supposed to forgive whomever sinned against him. Jesus’ answer was, not seven times but seventy seven times. That, of course, is an allegory that means, all the time. Therefore, forgiveness is not a onetime thing. It’s rather a minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day proposition. A friend of mine has a nightly ritual just before he falls asleep. Hey says several times: I am forgiven by anyone that needs to forgive me and I forgive everyone and everything I need to forgive.
Finally, forgiveness is not something we do for others. Forgiveness is something we do for ourselves
I will leave you with this quote. Holding a resentment is equivalent to taking a poison and expect the other person to die. – GOD BLESS

Several men are in the locker room of a golf club.

A cellular phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands-free speaker function and begins to talk.

Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

MAN: “Hello”

WOMAN: “Hi Honey, it’s me. Are you at the club?”

MAN: “Yes.”

WOMAN: “I’m at the shops now and found this beautiful leather coat. It’s only $2,000; is it OK if I buy it?”

MAN: “Sure, go ahead if you like it that much.”

WOMAN: “I also stopped by the Lexus dealership and saw the new models. I saw one I really liked.”

MAN: “How much?”

WOMAN: “$90,000.”

MAN: “OK, but for that price I want it with all the options.”

WOMAN: “Great! Oh, and one more thing… I was just talking to Janie and found out that the house I wanted last year is back on the market. They’re asking $980,000 for it.”

MAN: “Well, then go ahead and make an offer of $900,000. They’ll probably take it. If not, we can go the extra eighty-thousand if it’s what you really want.”

WOMAN: “Oh THANKS! I’ll see you later! I love you so much!”

MAN: “Bye! I love you, too.”

The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths wide open.

The man turns and asks, “Anyone know whose phone this is?”

When was the last time that you had a big dream in mind. You know, I am talking about that project that you saw clearly in your mind and that was all you thought about. You were so excited, you saw it in vivid details a long time before it became a reality. You knew that this was your dream and that this was your future. You felt a unique connection to this dream, to the point that you could not let go of it. An then, one day it happened. Just like you saw it. In every detail. I don’t now, has this happened to you? May I see some hands? Cause, I am going to tell you something. It has hapenned to me in more than one occasion. Does it happen every time? Probably not. But the question is why? And precisely that is what I would like to address today. And I am calling this talk, PURPOSEFUL IMAGINATION. More on that in a few moments. A couple of months ago I gave a talk on imagination and I mentioned how this word has many meanings to the point that we are sometimes confused as to what it really means.
For example, when someone is not making much progress in accomplishing a particular task we tell the person to “use his imagination”. But a few moments later, we tell him that his ideas are “pure imagination”, implying that what he is saying does not make any sense. When someone is a little paranoid o has unfounded suspicions about something, we say that he or she is a “victim of his or her own imagination”. But a few moments later compliment the person by describing him as a “man of imagination”.   Thus the word imagination has no definite meaning. Even the dictionary gives us no help. It defines imagination as (1) the picturing power or act of the mind, the constructive or creative principle; (2) a phantasm; (3) an irrational notion or belief; (4) planning, plotting or scheming as involving mental construction. Today, I submit to you that we should consider a deeper and more powerful application to this word. Because the Truth is that all great achievers, men and women who have changed history, all of them had vivid imaginations. And they used it, they believed in their dreams and they succeeded… For the context of today’s lesson let us rule out that IMAGINATION IS NOT DAY DREAMING. Imagination is a faculty of the mind that has the power to shape the invisible into the visible.. And who is the one that can do that? Romans 4:17 New International Version (NIV) 17 As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.”[a] He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not. Doesn’t it make sense to assume that this innate faculty that we have , that sees reality in our minds when that reality is not visible yet, doesn’t it make sense to understand that this faculty is the DIVINE SELF IN US. Let me remind you that this is not NEW AGE or Unity mumble jumble. In Scripture we read. Isn’t it written in your Law. YE ARE GODS? In Scripture we read, The secret of the ages is Christ in you the hope of Glory. I Scripture we read that we live, move and have our being in GOD? And I wonder, why is it that we resist (I resist) so much the notion of calling myself God. Maybe we suffer from a collective case of low spiritual self esteem. Maybe Wayne Dyer can help us a little bit here imagination. I am God doesn’t refer to your body in any way. It refers to the birth less, deathless, changeless spirit that remains in all the changing forms your body takes every moment of your temporary life here on Earth. I read somewhere that many of these great achievers of history, such as Walt Disney, Steve Jobs, Edison, etc., they all had one thing in common. They were convince that a higher power was working through them and this higher power acted as a driving force in everything they did and accomplished. So, let’s get to work. We are able to create with our IMAGINATION simply because it is God creating through us. Now, if we look at the allegory of CREATION, the Creator of the Universe used a series of LET THERE BE… statements. In another lesson we will see how these creations were the spiritual equivalent of a manifestation that came later. We must have that same I awareness. We must go within, to the very core of our spiritual being, to the I AM in us and fully realyze, that we are the DIVINE that is creating whatever it is that we wish to create. AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN, I must remind you that this is not a mental activity of the Ego. THIS IS THE SPIRIT THAT YOU ARE. THIS IS THE CHRIST IN YOU. Basically, what I am saying is that in order for this to work, we need to have a complete awareness of our I AM IDENTITY, without any doubt. Pay attention at the many negative ways in which we use the I AM, which by the way, is the name of God in you. What are some of the things that we attache the I AM to. Come on, let me hear it. We say things like I am sick, I am tired, I am sick and tired, I am weak, I am depressed. How in the world, the Creator of the Universe can be any of these things? Can you imagine God being weak, or sick or tire, or sick and tire? God no! No pun intended. So the first moment of awareness is whenever we are attaching any of these attributes to the God of our being, we need to STOP, IN THE NAME OF GOD. We need to stop and think and replace those negative I AM’s with its positive equivalent. We need to replace, I am sick with I am healthy, I am weak with I am strong, I am depressed with I AM joyful, I am stressed with I AM PEACEFUL and so on. And this requires practice. Why? Because this has been programmed in us from early on. So we mus deny, deny, deny, and affirm, affirm and affirm who we really are. Until we do so, the activity of our imagination will be a hit or miss type of thing because we are using it at the ego and mental level where all these negative I am’s operate. I would like to modify a quote by Napoleon Hill. He said that whatsoever the human mind can conceive it can achieve. Well I like to say that whatsoever our Spirit self can imagine, this Spirit self can bring into a visible manifestation. HOW TO Rule number one is: never place into your imagination any thought that you would not want to materialize. — Rule number two is of equal importance: never allow your imagination to be contaminated by ideas about how your life used to be. You need faith in your power to make the nonexistent your reality. Just because you haven’t experienced the magic of the nonexistent appearing in your daily life is no reason to poison your imagination with the thoughts that got you where you are Never allow someone else’s ideas about what is possible or impossible for you, what should you be thinking, or who you should be—or anything else—to occupy your imagination. Only share your dreams with people that can support you. The lady on the phone in the locker room is not a distant reality. You can be and have anything your Spirit can see in the eyes of your purposeful Imagination.
